Jason Raupp specializes in maritime archaeology and maritime history. He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Northwestern State University, M.A. in History from the University of West Florida, and Ph.D. in Archaeology from Flinders University. Over the past twenty years he has been involved with maritime and terrestrial archaeological research in the United States, West Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region. Raupp’s research interests include historical and maritime archaeology of the Pacific Ocean, historical and maritime archaeology of the Latin America and the Caribbean, culture contact, historic fisheries, military technologies, battlefield studies, and contact-period rock art. Past employers include the U.S. National Park Service, the University of West Florida, Florida’s Bureau of Archaeological Research, Flinders University, South Australia’s Department for Environment and Heritage, and Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. He was most recently employed as the Staff Archaeologist in the Program in Maritime Studies at ECU and is also a Research Associate in the Department of Archaeology at Flinders University (Australia). Raupp has authored or co-authored chapters in books, papers in conference proceedings, book reviews, and professional reports, as well as numerous articles which have appeared in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Maritime Archaeology, the International Journal of Nautical Archaeology, the Bulletin of the Australasian Institute for Maritime Archaeology, and Florida Historical Quarterly.
