Phi Alpha Theta
Our Mission
We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers, and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
Our Chapter
The Lambda Eta chapter at East Carolina University was established May 12, 1966. The Lambda Eta Chapter represents the brightest historians of East Carolina University. Advised by Dr. Mona Russell the organization focuses on research and presentation of that research at conferences, both local and national. Our chapter has won Chapter of the Year for ten consecutive years. This award is presented to chapters of Phi Alpha Theta across the nation who excel in promoting the mission of Phi Alpha Theta.
