Allyson Ropp is the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Research Fellow for East Carolina University. As a trained historical and maritime archaeologist, she has conducted historical research on maritime communities across the eastern seaboard and the material remains that these communities left behind.

She has also worked on projects around the world, including World War II-related submerged heritage resources in the Pacific Theater. Her recent research focuses on site formation processes of maritime archaeological sites, specifically the impacts of hurricanes, climate change, and seasonal environmental shifts.

She holds a Ph.D. in Integrated Coastal Sciences and an MA in Maritime Studies from East Carolina University and a BA in History and Classics from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
